Stepan, Vincent (28 OCT 1816 - 9 JUN 1890)

Died, at his home in this village (Colby, Clark Co., Wis.), on Monday, June 9th, 1890, of heart failure incident to old age, Vincent Stepan, in the 74th year of his age.

Vincent Stepan was born in Slavetin, Bohemia, Oct. 28th, 1816. In 1860 he came to this country with his family and settled in Kewaunee, this state. In 1876 he removed to Colby, Clark Co. where he has since resided, highly respected by all who know him. Mr. Stepan was a very quiet and unassuming man, attending strictly to his own business. He was a musician of more than ordinary merit, and has given piano instructions to many in this place, Spencer, Marshfield, Neillsville and other places in this vicinity. In August 1837, he was married to the wife who survives him. This union was blessed with six children, two sons and four daughters, all of whom live to mourn the loss of a loving husband and father. Two daughters live in Kewaunee, two daughters and one son live at Chadron, Neb., and Rudolph, the youngest son, resides at Bessemer, Mich.; besides these there are 23 grandchildren. The remains were taken to Kewaunee Tuesday evening for interment, accompanied by Rudolph.
