Schuld, Frank J. (15 Augl 1848 - 22 Mar 1932)

J. Schuld was born on Aug. 15, 1848, at Farmington, Jefferson County. He grew to manhood there and at the age of about 25 years was united in Holy Wedlock with Miss Barbara Moser.

The young couple engaged in farming in Jefferson County up until about 1880 when they moved with their family to Loyal Township about 4 ½ miles southeast of Loyal Village, in the vicinity of the Leo Hutter factory, Pelsdorf.

In 1895 Mrs. Schuld passed into the beyond, leaving her husband to struggle on with the bereaved family. During the years of 1897 to 1900 he rented a farm near Neillsville. Since 1907 he lived with his oldest son J. J. Schuld.

Mr. Schuld was a pioneer of Clark County and suffered all the hardships and privations incident to pioneer life. The death of Mrs. Schuld placed additional burdens but he was a sturdy and courageous man and took care of his family the best he could under the circumstances.

The deceased had been in good health up to last winter when his health began to fail. He was not seriously ill at any time up until shortly before death claimed him. Old age was apparently the only cause of his death, which occurred Tuesday, March 22, 1932. He attained the age of 84 years. Nine children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Frank Schuld five of whom are living. Twin boys died in infancy, 37 years ago; a daughter, Ella, died at the age of 22 years about 18 years ago; Mary, Mrs. George Weissman of Jefferson, Wis., died in 1920. Children that survive him are J.J. Schuld of this village; Frank, Albert and Otto of Madison, South Dakota and Barbara, Mrs. Ed. Christiansen, of Marshfield. He is also survived by one brother, Simon of this village and a number of grand children and great grand children.

Funeral were held Monday morning at 9 a.m. March 28th, at St. Balthasar’s Catholic Church, the Rev. A. J. Auret officiating. Interment took place in the Parish cemetery. Pall bearers were Frank Bauer, Joe Zenz, Sr., Nick Beaver, Dan Vandehey, Fred LaBarge and Joe Davel.

Relatives from away who attended the funeral were his sons Frank, Albert and Otto of Madison, South Dakota. Mrs. Otto Schuld and little daughter Ella May also made the trip to Wisconsin to attend the funeral. His daughter, Mrs. Ed. Christiansen and Mr. Ed. Christiansen of Marshfield; his son-in-law, Mr. George Weissman, and son Florian and daughter Germaine of Jefferson; and his sister-in-law Mrs. Anna Moser, also of Jefferson all attended the funeral.
