Brown, Harry E. (1 JAN 1883 - 16 NOV 1931)

Harry Brown, a well known farmer and resident of Loyal for thirty years passed away at his home one and one-fourth miles northwest of Loyal Monday at 3:30 a.m.

He was born at Appleton January 1, 1882, his mother preceding him in death when he was eleven years old. He moved with his father to Loyal in 1901.

On March 27, 1910 he married Miss Lottie Swarthout of Colby, at that time moving to the farm northwest of Loyal where he lived twenty-two years.

He was a member of the F.A.M. Blue Lodge and Eastern Star of Loyal, Modern Woodmen, Royal Arch Masonic Lodge.

He leaves to mourn his early departure his wife and four children, Namely: Jane, Mary, Harry and Charles, his parents, Mr. and Mrs., C. H. Brown of Redondo Beach, Calif., his brother Hal of Loyal, besides many other relatives and friends.

The Tribune joins the many friends of the bereaved in expressing their heartfelt sympathy.

Harry Edward Brown, youngest son of Charles H. and Jennie Ferguson Brown, was born at Appleton, Wisconsin, Jan 1, 1883. His childhood was spent at Appleton and Hartford, Wisconsin. In 1900 the family moved to Loyal, since which time, with the exception of two years spent in the West, Harry has made Loyal his home.

He received his schooling in the public schools of Hartford and Loyal, and later attended the Stevens Point Business College.

On March 26, 1910 he was united in marriage to Lottie Swarthout, and for the last twenty-one years they have made their home on the farm one-half miles northwest of the village. This farm home has been the scene of their happiest days, the home into which they welcomed their four children and in which they watched them develop into young manhood and womanhood, the home of all their mutual burden hearing and their greatest joys, and from which on Nov. 16, at 3:20 in the morning the father quietly entered "that Undiscovered country from whose borne no traveler returns", and where the Supreme Architect of the Universe presides.

He has gone to live in that "House not made with hands, eternal in the heavens.

He is not dead; he is just away.

With a gentle smile and a wave of the hand,

He has entered into the unknown land,

And left us thinking how very fair

It needs must be since he lingers there.

He was a kind , loving husband and father, a generous, helpful neighbor, and a faithful, amiable brother in the fraternal organizations of which he was a member. He was a Royal Arch Mason, a Modern Woodman, and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. His cheerful companionship will be missed at the fireside, in the community, and at the meetings of the organizations which he loved to attend. Until about two years ago he took an active part in lodge and community affairs, becoming inactive only because of failing health.

At that time he entered the St. Joseph’s Hospital at Chippewa Falls where he received the best medical care, but neither surgery nor medical science could arrest the progress of the ailment and restore him to health. During the period of poor health Harry was with his family except for a few months about a year ago when he visited his father and step-mother in their California home. It was a visit always to be remembered gratefully by his parents, as the last two years of his less active life hold many dear memories for the home folks.

Those who mourn his loss are his wife, Mrs. Lottie E. Brown; two daughters, Jane and Mary; two sons Charles and Harry; his father and mother, Mr. am\nd Mrs. Charles H. Brown of Redondo Beach, California; and his brother, Halbert Brown of Loyal.
