Charles Hiles, a prominent farmer of the town of Grant, was born in Lincolnshire, England, Jan. 1, 1871. His parents died there when he was a small boy.

In 1893 he came to America and lived first at Richmond, ??. In 1909 he came to Clark County, setting at Christie. In 1918 he moved to the town of Grant. Ten years later he moved to his home on Pleasant Ridge.

On May 3, 1898 he was married to Pauline Robrantz, who survives him. He leaves also four children, Anne, Robert, William and Rachel, all residing in the town of Grant, with the exception of Miss Rachel, who lives at Milwaukee; also 4 grandchildren.
