Henchen, Emilie (7 April 1861 - 21 Jan. 1934) *First name taken from the 1900 Census.

Mrs. Bruno Henchen who has been in poor health since Christmas passed away Sunday afternoon, Jan. 21, at her home on Eighth Street.

Mrs. Henchen was born in Prussia, Germany, April 7, 1861, and grew to womanhood there.

In 1881 she came with her parents to America. They settled at Wheeling, West Virginia, and two years later came to Clark County, securing land in the town of Grant. There on April 9, 1890 she was married to Bruno Henchen and soon after they went to live on his homestead in the town of Weston. Ten years ago they moved to Neillsville and have made their home here since.

Mrs. Henchen was a quiet, home-loving woman, doing faithfully and well her work in life, serving her home and community by faithful, cheerful attention to the duties of life.

She is survived by her husband, four sons and three daughters, one son dying in infancy. The survivors are: Arnold, Ewald and Clarence, all of Globe; Erwin of Milaca, Minn.; Miss Clara, R. N., Dubuque, Iowa; Frieda, Mrs. John Martens, Neillsville; Elsie, Mrs. Jos. Turenne, Thorp. Miss Clara who is a nurse has cared for her mother the past few weeks.

The funeral was held Wednesday afternoon at 1:30 at the home and 2:00 o’clock at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Rev. Wm. Baumann officiating.
