Joyce M. Nelson, 82, of Weston, Wis., and formerly Green Valley, passed away on Saturday, Sept. 18, 2004, in Aspirus Wausau Hospital, in Wausau, Wis.

She was born Feb. 25, 1922, in Phillips, Wis., to Daisy and Henry Marcott and was a graduate of Medford High School.

In her early years following her education, she moved to Milwaukee and was employed by Allis Chalmers. Following her marriage on Sept. 15, 1945 in Dorchester, Wis., to Lee H. Nelson, they farmed in the town of Holway and she was the cook at the Holoway School.

From the late 60s to the mid-80s, she was employed by Weather Shield Mfg. Inc.

In 1989, the couple retired to Green Valley and remained until April 2004, when they moved to Weston to be near family.

In addition to her husband Lee, Joyce is survived by daughters and foster daughters: Tana Turonie of Mellen, Wis.; twins Donna (John) Benson of Weston and Diana (Richard) Pernsteiner of Wausau, Kayda Nichols of Athol, Idaho, Sharon (Dan) Olson of Medford, Retha Nelson of Invere Grove Heights, Minn., and Marie (Bruce) Albers of Medford, plus other foster children raised by the Nelsons over the years. Also 15 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Also brothers Allen (Marion) Marcott of Minneapolis, Minn. and Lester (Dorothy) Marcott of Middleburg, Fla.

A foster daughter and several siblings preceded her in death.

Services will be on Wednesday, Sept. 22 at 11 a.m. at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church in the town of Holway with Pastor Lauren Ley officiating.

Cremainal interment to take place at a later date.

The family requests that memorials be made to Donna Benson, Weston, Wis., to be donated to the American Red Cross for hurricane victims' relief in the Southeastern United States.
