ROB. HAMILTON DIES IN WAUSAU

Was County Supervisor, Director of Colby State Bank and Prominent Farmer

Robert Hamilton, one of our prominent farmers, chairman of the town of Hull, a director of the Colby State Bank and a member of the Marathon county highway committee from November, 1924 to November, 1931, died at the Wausau Memorial Hospital Friday afternoon at four o'clock at the age of sixty years, hardening of te arteries being the cause of his departure to the distant shore. Funeral services were held at the Presbyterian church at Abbotsford Tuesday afternoon, Rev. L.C. Smith officiating and interment was made in the Colby cemetery where Masonic rites were held by the Colby Lodge F.& A.M. of which the deceased was a member, O.R. Briggs acting as master. The pall bearers were Max Heintz, Frank Jackson, Carl Holtzhausen, E.D. Loos, Henry Aderhold and K. Andrews. The flower girls were Mrs. George Dickinson, Mrs. C.L. Cramer, Mrs. N. Ouimette, Mrs. Henry Weise, all of Abbotsford, Mrs. George Drumm of Wausau, Mrs. R.H. Dickinson of Mosinee, Mrs. Fred Johnson of Withee, all nieces, and Miss Margaret Shilts of Chippewa. Mr. Hamilton was born at Knockinnis in Londonderry, Ireland, March 16, 1873 ***(Line of text unreadable)*** days. He came to the United States in 1874 with his parents and lived at Fond du Lac until 1878 when he came to this community. He lived in this community nearly all his life and twenty-one years on the present farm three and one-half miles east of Colby. He was married to Miss Birdie Dickinson December 1, 1900, and surviving him are his widow, who has been in poor health the past year, eight children, Hugh Hamilton of Mt. Carmel, Pa., Mrs. Clarence Fredericks of Chippewa Falls, Mrs. Otto Brehm of the town of Hull, Glen, Robert, Rodney, Niles, and Miss Helen, at home, his mother Mrs. Anna Parkhill of Abbotsford, two sisters, Mrs. N.G. Peterson of Milwaukee, Mrs. E.C. Munson of Wittee, and two brothers, Jess Parkhill of Abbotsford, and Fred N. Parkhill of Independence, Ore. Mr. Hamilton was a member of the Mosonic and Oddfellow orders and at the time of death was a member of the public property committee of the Marathon county board of supervisors on which he had served nearly fifteen years by virtue of his office as chairman of the town of Hull. He served on numerous committees of the board at various times and had a wide acquaintance throughout the county. The Marathon courthouse flag was placed at half mast Friday in his memory. The deceased was a just and upright citizen, a kind husband and father, an honorable and useful citizen, a sincere friend, a courteous and obliging neighbor, a man who endeavored always to perform every duty to God, his country, his family, his neighbor and himself.
