Albert Howe, who is now living at Caron, Ill., passed through the village Sunday on his way to Prescott to attend the funeral of his brother Ralph, who was drowned last Friday.

Mr. and Mrs. Jos. Link and Mrs. Geo. Link, of Alma, were called to Bloomer Tuesday to attend the funeral of the ladies mother, who died suddenly at her home in that place. They returned home Wednesday night.

Mrs. Wells made a visit at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Rundle at Chippewa Falls the last of the week, returning Monday. Mrs. Wells and her brother, Mr. Van Wort, left Wednesday noon to make their home in the west, she going to Vancouver, Wash., and he to Spokane

August Eisberner returned the fore part of the week from Ismay, Mont., and expects to remain a part of the winter. His son Will is staying on the homestead and putting up an addition to their house, and Frank is in Dakota with a threshling crew. Mr. Eisberner says that in his section of Montana there was only half a crop this year, but he has bright hopes for the future of that county.

J. C. Hahn Raises Mammoth Pumpkins J. C. Hahn, with the assistance of his son William, raised some pie pumpkins this year that for size hold the world's record. This week the pumpkins were cut from the vines on Mr. Hahn's lots south of the Commercial House and the dray was secured to haul them over to the cellar. Six made a wagon load. When placed on the scales the largest weight 127 pounds and the next 110. The entire crop are of extraordinary size. No one seems to know the exact name of the variety or where it originated. The seed from which these pumpkins were raised was obtained from one which John Gaber brought in last fall. Mr. Gaber's pumpkin weighted 104 pounds, and was raised from seed obtained from relatives.
