Gottschalk, Albert F. (14 Oct. 1919 - 7 March 2000)

Albert F. Gottschalk, 80, of 1521 N. Peach Ave., died of natural causes at 6:47 a.m. March 7, 2000, in the Emergency Room of St. Joseph's Hospital.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Hansen Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Gary Hedding, pastor of Faith Lutheran Church, officiating.

Burial will be in St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery in Green Grove. Military rites will be conducted by the VFW Post 2227 of Colby.

Visitation will be from 12:30 p.m. until service time Thursday at the funeral chapel.

He was born Oct. 14, 1919, in Colby, the son of William and Adel (nee Johnson) Gottschalk. He received his education at Cloverdale School. After his education he helped on the family farm and then in the harvest season he worked in the grain fields of North Dakota. In the winter he returned home and helped with the family farm.

He served during World War II in the European Theatre. After his discharge he returned home and farmed with his parents and worked at cheese factories in the area. In 1969 the family farm was sold and he moved to Marshfield. He was then employed by mobile home plants in Spencer and Marshfield until his retirement.

He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2227 of Colby.

He is survived by his brothers and sisters: Alvina Baumgart, Myrtle Gottschalk, Rueben Gottschalk and Lucille (Kenneth) Kobs, all of Marshfield, Elroy (Betty) Gottschalk of Hartford and La Vern Gottschalk of Coloma. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Carl, Harvey and Arnold Gottschalk.

Memorials May be designated to the family in his name and they will establish a memorial at a later date.
