Poppe, Emil (20 Oct. 1856 - 19 Sept. 1932)

Emil Poppe, a well known resident of the town of Seif for more than 30 years, died Sept. 19 at 7 p.m. at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Ed Prock in the town of Weston where he had been living for the past two years. Mr. Poppe who was born Oct. 20, 1856 in the town of Mosel, Sheboygan county, was married Oct. 4, 1882 at Dale, Wis., where he and his wife lived for nice years on his father-in-law’s farm.

In 1891 the family moved to Clark County and purchased a 160 acre farm in the town of Seif which they operated until 1923 when they moved to Neillsville. In 1930 Mrs. Poppe died.

Mr. Poppe was a man of sound business judgments and of fine character, being highly respected by all those who knew him. He was keenly interested in affairs of his community and at one time served as treasurer of the town of Seif.

Surviving Mr. Poppe are Mrs. Elmer Mund of Seif; Mrs. Ed. Prock, Weston; Mrs. Oscar Christofferson, Weston; and John Poppe, Seif.

The funeral was held Thursday afternoon from St. John’s Lutheran Church in Neillsville with Rev. Baumann conducting the services.
