Dore, L. Jennie (1842* - 1932) * Could be off

Mrs. L. Jennie Dore, 90, widow of the late John S. Dore and a resident of Fresno county since 1844, died early today at the home of her daughter, Mrs. O. B. Stockdale at North and Valentine Avenue.

Surviving her are three other children, Mrs. H. V. Rudy of Fresno, Mrs. George Hobbs of Modesto and Mrs. J. J Newell of Phoenix and of Ralph and Thornton Hodges of Los Angeles.

Born in Sherman, Chautauqua County, New York, Mrs. Dore lived during her childhood in Wisconsin.

After coming to Fresno with her husband forty-eight years ago she became active in social and club affairs. The West Park Thursday Club, of which she was a charter member was organized in her home thirty-two years ago. On account of her age and health Mrs. Dore dropped her activities about six years ago and for the last four years has been confined to her room. Her husband died here eighteen years ago .

Fresno, Salif., Bee.

(Mr and Mrs. Dore were residents of Clark County for many years. Mr. Dore was active in public affairs, was chairman of the County Board of Supervisors, published the second newspaper published in Clark County, "The Union Flag," which continued from 1861 to 1864. Later Mr. Dore established The Clark County Journal. In the early eighties Mr. Dore was County Superintendent of Schools. He owned the farm later known as the Youmans farm on Pleasant Ridge and built the large house, still standing on this farm).
