Roger Olejniczak

Roger V. Olejniczak, 68, of Lake Holcombe passed away Friday, Jan. 21, 2005, at his home surrounded by his loving family.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 25, 2005, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Bernard-St. Hedwig's Catholic Church in Thorp, with the Rev. Keith Apfelbeck officiating. Pallbearers will be Dave Shewczyk, Pete Hansen, Jim Jarocki, Fred Turenne, Ray Price, Jerry Price and Ken Henrickson. Private inurnment will be held at a later date.

Visitations will be held on Monday, Jan. 24, 2005, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Thorp Funeral Home, with a 7:30 p.m. rosary service.

Roger Vernon Olejniczak was born March 15, 1936, in rural Thorp to Michael and Veronica (Witkus) Olejniczak. He attended area schools. He married Charlotte Burzynski on Feb. 11, 1956, in Thorp. In 1959, Roger left his job at the Ford Dealership in Thorp and moved to Rochester, Minn., where he was employed at Rochester Silo, Inc., as their general manager until 1984.

He then moved back to Thorp and purchased what is now Courtesy Auto and Truck Center. Roger ran Courtesy Auto until 2000 when his sons, Al and Dan, took over daily operations, eventually selling the dealership to them in 2004.

Roger lost his beloved wife Charlotte of 44 years in January 2000. He then married Beverly Deck in June 2001. Together, they enjoyed a well-earned and well-deserved retirement. Roger enjoyed his time off riding his Harleys, boating, traveling, spending time at his lake home in Holcombe and winters at his home in Lake Havasu City, Ariz.

He is survived by his wife Beverly of Holcombe; four children, sons Allen (Roxanne) of Thorp, Daniel (Michelle) of Thorp and Chip (Beth) of New Castle, Colo., and daughter Karen (Jeff) Turenne of Thorp; seven grandchildren, Connor, Spencer, Caitlin, Cortney, Charlotte, Taylor and Garrett; his mother, Veronica; two brothers, Lawrence (Sarah) Olejniczak and Robert (Jane) Olejniczak; one sister, Sandra (George) Jarocki; three stepchildren, Jodie Deck, Darcie (Jay) Paradies and Rodney Deck; and three step-grandchildren, Rachel, Alivia and Cameron.

Roger's warm heart and giving spirit will be sadly missed by family and friends alike.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggest memorials be sent to Thorp Catholic School, 411 E. School St., Thorp, WI 54771.

Thorp Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
