Fierke, Amelia (17 DEC 1853 - 9 May 1925)

Mrs. Carl Plockelman was called to Columbus by the death of her mother, Mrs. Amelia Fierke, who died there May 9th, 1925.

Mrs. Fierke was born in West Prussia, Germany, in 1853 and was 71 years, 4 months and 23 days old at time of death.

When she was thirteen years old, she came with her parents to the United States.

When she had gown to woman's estate she was united in marriage to Fred Fierke. Thirteen children were born to them, two sons preceded her in death, besides her husband, to mourn her loss.

Mr. and Mrs. Fierke lived in Dorchester, Clark County, Wis. country a number of years on the farm now owned by Ed Guth; they moved to Baraboo, then to a farm near Columbus thirteen years ago and six years ago they moved into the city, where she passed away. A mother's love is never forgotten for she lives on in the lives of those who loved her and it is surely not in vain that she has lived for as the poet says, "It is not all of life to live, nor all of death to die." For a noble life lives on and death is merely being translated into a fuller life.

Besides her husband and children she leaves to mourn one brother, three sisters, forty-five grandchildren and a host of other relatives.

Mrs. Ed Fierke and Mrs. C. Plockelman were both present at the funeral.
