Resong, Mathias (31 Dec 1867 - 21 JUN 1935)

Neillsville, Clark County, Wis. - Funeral services for Mathias Resong, 67, Pine Valley, who died Friday evening at an Eau Claire hospital from a hemorrhage, will be held Tuesday morning, with short services at St. Mary's Catholic Church at 9 o'clock. The Rev. Peter Weber will officiate at the services and burial will be in the Neillsville Cemetery.

Born at Newburgh, on Dec. 31, 1867, the son of Michael and Susan Resong, deceased came with his parents to Clark County, Wis. in 1876, the family settling on a farm site in the town of Grant. He lived on the farm until his marriage to Miss Anna Lepke of Neillsville, on May 9, 1893, when he and his wife took up housekeeping here.

For the first 13 years of his married life he was employed by the former A. F. Radke Hardware Co. in the city, and then followed other vocations until 1923, when he began work for the Omaha railway here, which work he followed until his final illness. He was ill at his home for two weeks before his death. He had been a Clark County resident for 59 years.

Surviving him are his widow, three daughters, Mrs. Marcus (Johanna) Hoesly Jr., Neillsville; Mrs. Henry (Anna) Hoesly, Appleton; Mrs. Joseph A. (Marie) Weber, Sheboygan; three sons, Joseph, Albert and John, all at home, one brother, Arnold Resong, Racine, and three grandchildren, another son, August, preceded him in death 14 years ago.
