In 1872 he filed on a homestead in the town of Mayville. This land he developed into a fine farm and the place has remained in the family every since.

The funeral was held Monday afternoon from the old farm home, and at the Norwegian Lutheran church northwest of Curtiss, which Mr. Olson helped to establish many years ago.
