Verhagen, Christina (6 Aug. 1876 - 23 Dec. 1931)

Mrs. Adrian Verhadgen passed away at her home in the town of Fremont near Chili, Dec. 23, 1931, death resulting from paralysis.

Christina Joosten was born at Little Chute, Wis., Aug. 6, 1876, being one of nine children born to Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Joosten. She was married to Adrian Verhagen, Nov. 6, 1895. After living at Little Chute two years they came to the town of Fremont; buying the farm that has since been her home. To this union were born 12 children: Joseph preceding her in death 10 years ago; the other 11 with the husband survive. They are: Edward of Clam Falls, Wis.; Ella, Mrs. Clarence Livnigstone, Toledo, Ohio; Harriet, Mrs. Richard Downer; Marie, Mrs. Roland Braun, Bertha, Mrs. W. Nebel all of the town of Fremont; Paul, Louise, Frances, Lewis, Howard and Mabel at home; also three sisters -- Mrs. Wm. Weyenberg of Appleton; Mrs. Corneal Hermans and Mrs. Walter Vandyke of Forest Grove, Oregon.

The funeral was held from the St. Stephen’s church at 10 o’clock on Saturday, Rev. Fr. Willitzer of Bakerville officiating, burial being near the church. The large attendance at the funeral, the beautiful flowers and the many spiritual bouquets cards offered told of the high esteem in which she was held. She was a very devoted wife and mother, a wonderful well meaning friend and neighbor, never missing an opportunity of helping in time of need. She will be sadly missed by the members of her family and a host of friends and neighbors. Heartfelt sympathy is extended to the bereaved husband and children.
