Hatch, Alice (16 Feb. 1848 - 12 Dec. 1930)

Mrs. Alice Hatch, for many years a resident of this county, died at the Veterans’ Home near Waupaca, Dec. 12, and the body was brought back to Neillsville for burial.

Alice Elizabeth Stoddard was born at Sacketts Harbor, New York, Feb. 16, 1848. When about two years of age she came with her parents to Greenbush, Wis. Later she came with the family to Clark County. When a young woman she taught school successfully for several years in this vicinity. In 1872 she was married to J. K. Hatch, a Civil War veteran. They lived for a time in Neillsville, then moved to a farm near Kurth’s corners in the town of Grant.

After a few years they sold the farm and bought land in the town of York which they gradually developed into a fine farm. Mr. Hatch died in 1889. She continued to make the farm her home, though not remaining there all the time, until two years ago, when she went to the Veterans’ Home where she received excellent care and attention.

She is survived by two sons, H.W. Hatch of Dilworth, Minn. And R. L. Hatch of Minneapolis; also three grandchildren. A son who died when a small child, was buried in the Neillsville cemetery, where burial of the mother took place Monday afternoon.

The funeral was held at the Congregational church, Rev. G. W. Longenecker officiating. Both of son from Minnesota came to take charge of the funeral arrangements.

Upon exploring the Neillsville Cemetery, I found that the small child buried in the that said cemetery was named Donald Hatch. Dolores
