Catt, Marion E. (26 JUN 1924)

Thursday morning at nine o'clock, June 26, 1924, at St. Bernard's Church at Thorp, Clark County, Wis., Miss Marion Eleanor Catt, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Catt, became the bride of Harry Smith, son of Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Smith, Rev. Neises officiating.

When all was in readiness and at the appointed hour, they marched down the isle of the church. At the altar they plighted their troth, "till death do us part."

The bride was attired in a navy blue poiret twill suit and a delicate blue georgette hat, and carried a shower bouquet of roses and lilies of the valley. Her bridesmaid, Selma Timlin, wore a blue silk crepe de chine dress and a corsage bouquet of lilies of the valley.

The groom was attended by his brother, Lawrence, and both wore the customary blue suits.

Mrs. Smith is a graduate of the Eau Claire Training School and since graduation has taught the past seven years in rural and state graded schools, where she always proved to be a very successful and satisfactory teacher. She is a young lady of an exceptionally loving disposition and pleasing personality. She has a host of friends in all communities wherein engaged.

Mr. Smith is a young man whose appearance and business ability is evident, and his is highly spoken of by all who know him. He has spent the past few years in bridge building, but at the present time is working in a rubber plant at Wausau.

Following the ceremony the bridal party went to the home of the bride's parents near Stanley, where a bounteous dinner was served in their dining room, which was beautifully decorated in red, white and blue crepe paper, after which the happy couple departed by auto to Durand, Wis., the bride's former home, to visit relatives and friends a few days before departing for their new home in Wausau, at 511 2nd Ave. South.

The wedding was a very quiet affair, only the parents of the contracting parties being present.

They have the best wishes of their many friends for a long and prosperous life.

The Sunday previous to the wedding, through the courtesy of Mrs. James Timlin, a miscellaneous shower and picnic dinner was given at her home in honor of Miss Catt. About one hundred guests partook of the event and many beautiful and useful gifts were presented to her in honor of the occasion.
