Foley, Edward J. (2 Jan 1866 - 15 Sep 1921)

Edward J. Foley died at the St. Joseph Hospital, Chippewa Falls, Thursday, Sept. 15, 1921, about 3 p.m., after an illness of two weeks duration, of pneumonia, aged 55 years, 8 months and 13 days.

He entered the hospital Wednesday, Sept. 7, where at once his condition was considered as serious by Dr. Williams, the attending physician. Everything possible was done for his recovery, but all in vain; he passed peacefully away while asleep.

Ed Foley was born in Milwaukee, Wis., Jan. 2, 1866. He went to Calumet Co., when a small child with his parents, and after finishing school at Chilton he began the study of telegraphy. A few years later he was obliged to give up this occupation on account of ill health, and in 1887 came to Thorp country where his family resided.

Mr. Foley was a man of excellent character, upright and honest in his dealing with fellow men, a good citizen and friend. He will be sadly missed in the community. In 1898 he was elected town Treasurer of Worden, Clark County. This position he held until 1913, again elected in April 1917, where he remained until his demise. The remains were brought to Thorp on the noon train, Friday, Sept. 16th. Funeral services were conducted at the Catholic Church Saturday morning, Rev. John Neises officiating, interment following in St. Bernard's Cemetery. Mr. Foley is survived by two sisters, Katherine and Rose Foley of Worden, and other relatives living in Wisconsin.

The pallbearers were Wm. Oberle, A. Brunett, H. Baueres, Theo. Broeren, H. Micke and John Schultz.
