Weld, Salem E. ( 1841? - 26 Nov. 1925)

Salem E. Weld, formerly a resident of Neillsville, died at his home in Merrillan on Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 26, aged 84 years and 3 months. Mr. Weld was born at Elgin, Illinois, and grew to manhood there. He served all through the Civil War. He studied medicine and practiced for about 20 years, starting at St. Charles, Illinois, and later going to Elgin, where he also carried on a drug store. Later he discontinued practice.

Mr. Weld came to Wisconsin about 20 years ago and was employed by the Holway-Boynton Co., selling lands, making his headquarters and home in Merrillan. Later he moved to Neillsville where he lived for several years. Mr. Weld was married at Elgin, forty years ago. His wife and one daughter, Mildred, Mrs. Ray Biggar of Merrillan survive him. Mr. Weld was a man of fine character and keen mind. He was fond of reading and was well informed in current literature and the news of the world. He was thoroughly conscientious in business, a helpful and worthy citizen in every way.

Burial took place at Elgin, Illinois.
