Johnson, Charles (11 Oct. 1871 - *4 Sept. 1925)* Could be off.

Charles Johnson, who lived on his farm in Pine Valley about three miles west of the city, passed away suddenly Friday afternoon, while sitting in the shade of his bar. His son has just started to cut corn with the corn binder and Mr. Johnson sat down in the shade to watch his son as he cut the corn. He had not been in good health for several years but was always about the farm and doing his work.

Charles Johnson, son of Jacob Johnson and Mary Rusmussen was born at Saxville, Waushara County, Wisconsin, Oct. 11, 1871. He grew to manhood there and was married to Hattie Chase at Saxville, Nov. 3, 1898. They made their home there until six years ago when they moved to this locality, purchasing the Dave Wood farm west of Neillsville.

To Mr. and Mrs. Johnson two sons were born, Maynard, now a young man at home on the farm and Homer who died about four years ago.

Mr. Johnson came into this community a comparative stranger and soon established a good reputation by his honestly, quiet and peaceable manner, his industry and gentle-manliness in all his dealings. He was a good farmer and a helpful man in the community. After coming here he united with the Congregational Church and has served the church faithfully and efficiently as a trustee. He will be greatly missed in his home, in the church and in the community.

The funeral was held Monday afternoon at the Congregational Church, Rev. G. W. Longenecker officiating.
