Anderson, Emma (16 Feb. 1860 - 12 Feb. 1923)

Mrs. August Anderson died at her home in the town of Dewhurst, west of the Dells Dam, Monday, Feb. 12, after a few days illness from pneumonia. Deceased whose maiden name was Emma Ost was born in Sweden, Feb. 16, 1860. She grew to womanhood there and was married to August Anderson in Nov., 1882. In October, 1888, she came to America to join her husband who had come a short time ahead of her. They lived in Illinois for 18 years, and in 1906 came to Clark County, settling on the farm that remained their home until her death. She was a woman who was endowed with the finest qualities, devoted to her home and family, caring for all their needs with skillful hands and kind heart. Beside her duties as a kind wife and mother, she found time to be a helpful and sympathetic neighbor and friend to those in need.

To Mr. and Mrs. Anderson were born ten children of whom all are living: Carl Anderson whose home is in Minnesota; Annie, Mrs. Johnson, who lives in Illinois; Ida, Mrs. Ed. Clausen of Minnesota; Ellen, Mrs. Scott Raether of Dells Dam; Harry A. Anderson of Dells Dam; John A. Anderson, Worthington, Minn.; Esther, Mrs. Anson Green, Dells Dam; Ethel, Mrs. A. Johnson, Worthington, Minn.; Robert A. Anderson Chicago; Mildred Anderson at home, all of whom were home for the funeral. She leaves beside her husband and children, 23 grandchildren. The funeral will be held Thursday at 1 o’clock at the home and 2 o’clock at Dells Dam church, Rev. Donnell officiating.
