Goebel, Helena ( 9 Feb. 1849 - 18 April 1922)

Mrs. Joseph Goebel, one of the old residents of the town of Grant, passed away at her home Tuesday forenoon, April 18, after about six weeks illness from heart trouble.

Mrs. Goebel, whose maiden name was Helena Lustig, was born in Schlesing, Germany, Feb. 9, 1849. She came to this country with her mother in 1870. On Oct. 25, 1873, she was married to Joseph Goebel in the town of Grant and they settled on the farm in that town that has been their home ever since. She was a woman who did well the work of life, meeting with energy and industry its duties and bearing with faith and patience its trials. She was a good wife and mother and a kind neighbor. She leaves her husband and five children: John Goebel of the town of Lynn; Paul Goebel on the home farm in Grant; Anna, Mrs. Bruno Dudei, of Grant; Bertha, Mrs. G.C. Deutsch, Neillsville; Clara, Mrs. Henry Lutz, Milwaukee; also 14 grandchildren.

The funeral will be held at that Lutheran church near the home at 1 o’clock Friday afternoon, Rev. Reiff officiating.
