Bertz, Mrs. Edward

I’m Mrs. Edward Bertz from Loyal, Clark County, Wis., USA and a member of the Loyal Women’s Study Club.

My husband is Edward Bertz of Loyal and at present is the mayor of the city.

We are the parents of ten children, seven living, three died in infancy.

Our oldest son Edward Jr., twenty-four years of age, is a college graduate in Mathematics, served twenty-six months as a radio technician on an aircraft carrier "The Boxer". He is now continuing his study for the priesthood. He joined the order of the Norbertines or "White Fathers", he plans on dedicating his life to teaching or missionary work.

Our home is an average American home of eight rooms, with furnace heat, electric lights and hot and cold water. We drive a Studebaker. Our second son John, or Jack as he is called. Genevieve (Jenny), our oldest daughter, is employed at Armour in Eau Claire, Wis. She is studying Medical Technology at Mount Mary College, where her sister Carole is studying art.

Constance, a daughter of sixteen, is a junior or third year in our city’s high school where Mr. Berry is principal. Then Thomas of thirteen years is an eighth grade pupil of St. Anthony’s parochial school, and Mary Ellen is in fifth grade, a pupil of St. Anthony’s. This comprises our family.

My husband is a dealer of live stock, buying all type of livestock and sells to wholesalers and meat packers.

We all love music, the younger children are studying piano and are doing well.

We are an average American family.
