Forman, Mr. & Mrs. Cyrus E. (Gold Anniv - 19 Augl 1912)

The fiftieth anniversary of the marriage of Mr. and Mrs. Cyrus E. Forman was celebrated at their home in Weston, Clark County on Aug. 19th, 1912. Mr. Forman was married to Olivia Fanny West Aug. 19, 1862, at Brillion, Calumet Co., Wis. They moved to Clark County in June 1877, and have resided on their farm in Weston ever since. Mr. Forman is a native of Vermont and his wife of Ohio, and their ages are 73 and 74 respectively. There were present at the golden wedding the following: Two sons and their wives, Mr. and Mrs. Allen Forman and Mr. and Mrs. Wheeler Forman; four grandchildren, viz.: Bert, so of Allen Forman, Leland and Isadore, son and daughter of W.E. Forman, and Mrs. W.A. Holt, also three great-grandchildren. So all the children, grand and great-grandchildren attended the festivities.

Following is a list of the guests present: Hon. S.M. Marsh and wife, Judge James O’Neill and wife, Forest D. Calway of Neillsville, E.J. Griffith and wife, Laura Griffith, S.E. Morse and wife, C.H. Shaw and wife, J.D. Kaudy and wife, Chas. Northup and wife, Mrs. Chas. Kayhart and her son, Roy, and daughter, Neva, J.L. Hawley and wife, Wm. Bardel and wife, and Mrs. A.J. Holt.

There were many beautiful and useful presents, and cards of congratulations from friends: From John and Henry Thorn of Billion, Wis., $10 in gold; H.A. Babcock and wife of Neenah, Wis., gold bowl spoon, Mrs. Babcock being a sister of Mrs. Forman; Elmer Brown and wife of Portland, Ore., five dollar gold piece; Mr. and Mrs. Kneifel of Bowman, N.D., gold sugar spoon, S.M. Marsh and wife and Judge and Mrs. O’Neill, chair and rug.

The wedding took place in the evening and was a very happy affair. Judge O’Neill performed the ceremony and S.M. Marsh was best man and Mrs. Marsh bridesmaid. The esteem in which the bride and groom are held was fittingly expressed in remarks by Hon. S.M. Marsh, Mr. Griffith and Judge O’Neill. The fact that Mr. and Mrs. Forman were pioneers in Clark County, that they have lived to see a wonderful development about them, that all their children and grandchildren live near them and could all be present on the occasion and that so many friends were present to congratulate them, were referred to by the speakers.

Mr. Allen Forman prepared the refreshments, which were beautiful and much appreciated by the guests. There was music by the grandchildren and Mrs. Forman played an accompaniment on the organ and joined with members of the family in singing. It was 2 o’clock in the morning before the guests departed and they left with congratulations and best wishes for many years of health and happiness to the pair in whose honor they had met.
