Hubbard, Lucina (27 May 1825 - 25 Jan 1911)

Mrs. Lucina Hubbard, formerly a resident of Neillsville, Clark County, died at the home of her son R.F. Hubbard, Jan. 25, 1911, aged 85 years, 7 months and 29 days. She was born in New York State and grew to womanhood there, and was married to L.H. Hubbard. They moved to Pennsylvania and in 1864 came to Neillsville, purchasing a tract of land on the west side of Black River and a hotel, where the Merchants now stands, known as the Hubbard House while they ran it. Her husband died in 1867. For twenty-nine years past, deceased has made her home with her daughter, Mrs. Bert Cornwell, until last April, when she came to her son’s at Hayward. She was the mother of seven children, four of who survive her: R.F. Hubbard, Hayward; E.F. Hubbard, Pine Valley; Mrs. J.E. Smith, Los Angeles, Cal.; Mrs. Bert Cornwell, Helena, Mont.

She was a member of the M.E. Church from the age of sixteen and lived the life of a consistent Christian, loved and respected by all who knew her.

The remains were brought here from Hayward for burial, the funeral being held at the Congregational Church Sunday afternoon, Rev. Risser officiating.

All the members of the family wish to thank those who offered their assistance and sympathy.
