Paquette, Mary (19 Oct 1918 - 24 Augl 2002)

Mary Paquette, 83, Neillsville, died on Saturday, Aug. 24, 2002, at the Memorial Medical Center, Neillsville. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., on Friday, Aug. 30, at the Gesche Funeral Home, Neillsville. The Rev. Woodrow Pace will officiate. Music will be provided by Ronald Resong, organist, and Rita Kuchenbecker, soloist. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery, Neillsville.

Mary Ann Zugich was born on Oct. 19, 1918, in DePue, Ill., to Matt and Mary (nee Jordan) Zugich. She attended St. Stephen’s Catholic Grade School, Chicago, and also attended high school in Chicago. After finishing her schooling, she worked at various places in the Chicago area. She married Norman Paquette on Jun 25, 1938, in Chicago. They resided there until 1949, when they moved to Neillsville and lived with her parents on the farm. Later they moved into Neillsville and resided there for many years. She worked as a dietary aid at the Memorial Medical Center for 16 years. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and St. Rose’s Circle, Neillsville. She served as a Boy Scout den mother in the early 1960s. Her interests included reading, crossword puzzles and painting.

Survivors include one daughter, Carol (Edward) Kurasz, Neillsville; one son, Richard (Loni) Paquette, Stoughton; seven grandchildren, Holly (Matt) Neu, Manitowoc, Jaime (Kevin) Stohlmeyer, Stoughton, Jane Kurasz, Neillsville, Vicki Kurasz, Wisconsin Rapids, Lori Kurasz, Marshfield, Ronald Kurasz, Neillsville, and Mark Kurasz, Milton; two great-grandchildren, Christina Kurasz and Nena Henaman, both of Wisconsin Rapids; and two sisters-in-law, Anna Mae Zugich, West Port, Wash., and Virginia Zugich, Elkhorn.

Preceding her in death were her husband, Norman, in January 1992; and two brothers.

Gesche Funeral Home, Neillsville, is assisting the family with arrangements.
