Counsell, Ida (16 Sep 1891 - 8 Mar 1909)

Ida Counsell, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph E. Counsell, died at their home on Pleasant Ridge, Clark County Monday forenoon, March 8, 1909, aged seventeen years, five months and twenty-two days. Her death was due to hemorrhage of the lungs, several attacks of which had sometime before weakened her very much. She was compelled to drop out of high school during the fall term, but it was earnestly hoped that good care and relaxation from study would bring her back to health; but these hopes were not to be fulfilled. Her death has deeply affected all who knew her, for she was generally beloved by all. The day before she died the Sunday School pupils of the Pleasant Ridge Church sent her a beautiful bouquet of carnations and roses, and on Monday as soon as it was known that she was dead, the Pleasant Ridge School was dismissed. Not the children alone, but old and young throughout the neighborhood, loved her for her kind and gentle disposition and her cheerful spirit, and all alike have words of sympathy for the grief stricken family.

Ida was a member of the Methodist Church, and exemplified in her life the fullness of her faith. The funeral, which will start from the house at noon, will be held in the M.E. Church in Neillsville this afternoon, Thursday, at 1:30 o’clock. The junior class of the high school of which she was a member, will attend in a body, the pall bearers being selected from the class, and the singing will be by the pupils. Rev. W.P. Burrows will preach the funeral sermon.
