Garfield, Albert H. (20 Augl 1866 - 4 Dec 1908)

Albert H. Garfield died at his home in the town of Lake, Pierce Co., Wis., Dec. 4, 1908, after a lingering illness from Tuberculosis. About two years ago, in hopes of improving his health he went to Colorado, remaining for some time, but receiving little benefit. On returning to Wisconsin he took up his residence in Pierce County.

Bert Garfield, as he was familiarly known here, was born in Jefferson Co., Wis., Aug. 20, 1866. He came with his parents to Clark County where he grew to manhood. After travelling about for several years he returned to Neillsville and opened a barber shop, continuing to follow his trade until he left.

He was married to Miss Ethel Bergman of River Falls Aug. 5, 1902. She, with their child, a little girl about three years of age, survives him. Burial took place on Tuesday.

Mr. Garfield was a member of the Modern Woodmen, the Beavers and the Eagles, continuing to hold his membership in the local organizations of those fraternities in Neillsville up to the time of his death. Not only in these fraternities, but in Neillsville and for miles around he had many personal friends who will sorrow to learn of his death and who extend to his bereaved wife and child there sincerest sympathy.
