Pitts, Sarah E. (7 Sep 1853 - 2 MAY 1907)

Mrs. Sarah E. Pitts, wife of J.W. Pitts, died at their home near Tioga, Clark County, May 2, 1907, after an illness of nearly a year. Deceased, whose maiden name was Sarah E. Ralston, was born in Pennsylvania, Sept. 7, 1853. She came to Wisconsin with her parents when a child. On Jan. 2, 1872 she was married to J.W. Pitts at River Falls. For thirteen years they lived in Minnesota, moving from there to West Superior and a short time later moved to Neillsville, where they lived for ten years. Besides her husband, she leaves two sons, J.A. and M.V. Pitts. The former resides at home and the latter in Spokane, Wash.; also five brothers and two sisters.

The funeral was held Monday forenoon at the Shepherd School House, Prof. B.E. Smith officiating. The remains were taken to Hammond for burial in the family lot. Mrs. Pitts was a good woman and loved by all her acquaintances, who joined in sympathy to the bereaved family.

A. D. Ralston started yesterday for Tioga, Wis., to visit a sister who is seriously ill and not expected to live. He went only as far as Crookston, however, where he found that two other brothers would leave for Wisconsin to be with their sister during her perhaps final sickness.
