Reber, Frederick (Dec 1820 - 23 APR 1907)

Frederick Reber, one of the oldest residents of this locality, died at his home in Neillsville, Clark County, Tuesday evening, April 23, 1907, of cancer of the stomach. He was born in Williamsport, Pa., in Dec. 1820. He went to Lena, Ill., where he was in the mercantile business for many years. He was married there in 1849 to Sarah Keller, who survives him. They came to Clark County in April 1865 and he established a saw mill on Cawley Creek, four miles north of this city, which he operated with his farm. Five years ago he sold out and moved to Neillsville. Besides his wife he leaves but one child, Mrs. Angie Ferguson and a grandchild, Mrs. Harry Creviston. Three older children are dead.

Mr. Reber was a man who read a great deal and had a clear understanding of public events. He had his own philosophy of life and was a most interesting man to meet and visit with.

The funeral will be held at the house, but the date is not yet decided.
