Morrison, James W. (31 Jan 1870 - 27 Dec 1906)

James Walker Morrison died at his home in this city (Neillsville, Clark County) Dec. 27, 1906, of consumption, after a lingering illness. He was born in Cork, Ireland, Jan. 31, 1870. He came with his parents to the United States in 1888, and shortly after went to Grand Rapids, Mich. when the furniture factory in Neillsville was being built he came here with his father to assist in its construction. In 1895 he went to Baltimore, where he was employed by the Reliable Furniture Mfg. Co., the eastern end of the company operating here, and in 1900 was transferred to Neillsville. Oct. 7, 1897 he was married to Laura French, who, with two children, a girl and a boy, survive him. He leaves also his father, Wm. Morrison, who lives in Baltimore, a brother Alfred in Neillsville and a brother David, and two sisters, Mrs. Jos. French and Mrs. Harry Webster.

James Morrison was a man who stood high in the estimation of all who knew him. He was loved and trusted by his employers, for his faithfulness to duty and his willingness and anxiety to look after their every interest. Even to the last they counted him among their employees. In his death while still in the prime of life, the community has lost a man of rare talent and a worthy example.

The funeral was held Saturday afternoon at the Congregational Church, Rev. emery of Black River Falls, a brother Mason, officiating. Neillsville Masonic Lodge, of which deceased was a member, had charge of the funeral.

The sympathy of all is extended to the bereaved family.
