Rodman, Deborah (24 Dec 1832 - 8 Jan 1906)

Mrs. Deborah Rodman died at her home in Pine Valley, Clark County, Jan. 8th, 1906, aged 73 years and 15 days. Deceased was born at Terre Haute, Ind. She was married to Lyman Rodman in 1850 and came to Clark County in the fall of 1855. For a short time they lived at Yellow Pine Grove down Black River and then took up their homestead a few miles southeast of Neillsville, being the first settlers in that vicinity. Her husband met his death in 1896 by falling from a scaffold in a barn, since which time Mrs. Rodman continued to live at the old home with her son Herschel. She leaves two sons, Del A. and Herschel and two daughters, Mrs. William Lapp and Mrs. R.B. French Jr., besides eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Rodman was one of the worthy pioneer women of Clark County who dared the hardships and perils of the early days, doing well her part in caring for her family. The memory of such as she who tolled on the foundation of civilization in this locality should be honored.

The funeral was held at the M.E. Church Wednesday, Rev. W.P. Burrows officiating.
