Hosely, Mrs. D. (? - 1 Dec 1905)

Letters were received here Wednesday stating that Mrs. David Hosely died Dec. 1, 1905 at the home of her son, Gus Hosely, in Boise, Idaho. No particulars were given. She will be buried there until spring, when her remains, together with those of her husband, who died a few months ago, will be brought to Neillsville for burial. The old neighbors of the deceased will learn of her death with sorrow.

Kuester, Mrs. Norbert (Lena) (80th - 1984)

Approximately 100 relatives and friends recently honored Mrs. Norbert (Lena) Kuester at her home to celebrate her 80th birthday. She received many gifts and out of town telephone calls. Those from away who attended the open house were Mr./Mrs. Willard Kuester, Howard Grove; Lester Laabs, Oshkosh; Mr./Mrs. Thomas Krall and Joshua, Big Bend; Mr./Mrs. Ed Potocnik and Minnie Laabs, all of Owen; Mr./Mrs. Jay La Boute, Chippewa Falls; Mr./Mrs. Arnold Awe and David, Owen; Mr./Mrs. Al Krall and Dick, Neillsville; Mrs. Adolph (Floriene) Wendt, Owen. Mrs. Kuester’s cousin, Edna Reinke, Cleveland spent Thursday and Friday with her.

Tuesday evening visitors at the Kuester home were Florence Garbisch, Norma Ebert and Irene Meinholdt of Loyal and Wednesday supper guests were Mr. and Mrs. Harry Kluender and Margaret Schwarze, Rose Horn and The Rev. Alwyn York.

Larsen, Mr. and Mrs. Walter (Golden - 1984)

Mr. and Mrs. Walter Larsen, 1109 Emery St., Neillsville, were honored Saturday evening, May 26, at the Neillsville American Legion Hall for their 50th wedding anniversary. Approximately 250 attended the buffet, open house and dance.

Walter and Helen Larsen were married on February 12, 1934, in Belvidere, South Dakota. They came to Neillsville of that year and worked in dairy farming. The retired in August of 1966 and moved into Neillsville. A son and his family purchased the home farm.

Mrs. Larsen is a native of Belvidere, South Dakota, where she grew up on a large cattle ranch and later taught in country schools for five years.

Walter was born in Cottonwood, South Dakota. At the age of three, he moved with his parents to the Shortville area where he attended school.

The couple had several children, including Dennis of rural Neillsville; Douglas, an oil distributor and who with his family operates the Moraine Motel; and Mrs. Robert (Jean) Chadwick, who with her family operates a dairy farm in the Christie area. They are joined by 11 grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

Walter’s hobbies include fishing, traveling and woodworking. Helen enjoys handcrafts, sewing, traveling and card playing. The Larsens are members of St. Mary’s Parish in Neillsville. They also belong to several card clubs.

Attending the golden gala was Marie Dartt of Wall, South Dakota, who is a sister of Mrs. Larsen and an original wedding attendant.

The anniversary also allowed for a Larsen family reunion, which was held the following day on the Chadwick farm.

Relatives attending included Mr./Mrs. Dean Strand, Mr./Mrs. Harvey Ramlow, Lucille Elmer and Mollie Elmer, all of St. Paul, Minn.; Mr./Mrs. Ed Kodet, Kathy Chadwick and Mr./Mrs. Greg Gress, all of Minneapolis; Mr./Mrs. James Mientes, Davenport, Iowa; Lynette Mientes, Omaha, Neb.; Mr./Mrs. Victor Larsen, Mountain Home, Ark.; Mr. and Mrs. Alan Larsen and family, Vicki Kraeutle, Mr./Mrs. Joe Fornino and family, Anna Dooley, and Mr./Mrs. Floyd Dooley, all of Chicago; Mr./Mrs. Henry Farris, Sacramento, Calif.; Mr./Mrs. Louis Soreide, Centennial, Wyo.; and Beverly Chadwick, Madison.

Friends came from the Hayward, Chilton, Almond, Rosholt, Elk Mound, Milwaukee, Pittsville, Chili and Greenwood areas.

Eastern Star Memorial services for Olivia Ruchaber will be held Sat. June 2 at 2:00 p.m., at the Neillsville City Cemetery. Star members are to meet at the Masonic Temple at 1:30. Services are open to the public, and her friends; then to the Masonic Temple for lunch. Her sister and several others from Fond du Lac will attend.
