Rakovec, Doris Pearl

Doris Pearl Rakovec, age 82, of Loyal, died at St. Joseph's Hospital Paliative Care Unit on Tuesday, Sept. 14, 1999 at 11:50 a.m. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 18, 1999 at Loyal United Methodist Church. Rev. Evan Butterbrodt officiated and burial was in the Loyal City Cemetery. Visitation was held on Friday, Sept. 17, 1999 from 4 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Rinka Funeral Home, Loyal, and on Saturday, Sept. 18, 1999 at Loyal United Methodist Church from 10 a.m. until the time of services. Pallbearers were members of the Loyal American Legion.

Doris Pearl Anderson was born on February 22, 1917 in Loyal, WI to Delbert and Ethel (nee Kendall) Anderson. She graduated from Loyal High School in 1934. After high school, she worked for Rellis IGA until the time of her marriage.

On April 24, 1946, she married John Rakovec at Holy Family Church in Willard. When her children were young she was a homemaker and helped on the family farm. She spent many years working as a cook for the Loyal American Legion and was active with the Legion from its beginning. She enjoyed collecting many things and made banners for church.

She was a member of the United Methodist Women's Group, the Greenwood Bible Class, the Eastern Star and the Loyal American Legion Auxiliary. She was a former Grand Worthy Matron of the Eastern Star and in 1986, Loyal Citizen of the year. She has been a lifetime resident of Loyal.

She is survived by one son; Robert Rakovec of Loyal; three daughters: Delores (Arnold) Wolf of Chili, Karen Harouff of Kendall, and Terri (Brian) Aumann of Loyal; eight grandchildren, and two great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one brother and one sister.
