Rose, Charles (5 Augl 1858 - 18 FEB 1904)

Charles Rose died at his home on the North Side (Neillsville, Clark County) Thursday afternoon, Feb. 18, 1904. For several weeks his health had been poor but he kept faithfully to his work as nigh watchman at the furniture factory, until one morning less than a week before his death, he was found unconscious at his post. Typhoid pneumonia had set in and his recovery was soon seen to be doubtful, and he gradually grew weaker until death came. He was born in Washington County, Wis., Aug. 5, 1858 and had lived in this county about 35 years. He was married to May Southard Aug. 14, 1893, who with their four young children survive him. He leaves also two brothers, Frank and James, and five sisters, Mrs. Wm. Cooper of Pine Valley, Mrs. O.L. Sprague and Mrs. A. Sasse of Merrillan, and Mrs. J. Demmons of Owen, and Mrs. W. Sasse of S.D. He was a kind husband and father, an honest industrious citizen, and a good neighbor. The funeral was held Sunday under the auspices of the Modern Woodmen of America, at the Congregational Church, Rev. G.W. Longenecker officiating.
